GALERIE YVAN ROUBIN

Clearly dedicated to Eastern Art, the YR Gallery presents an " Art of brushwork " in 20th-century China.

At the turn of the century and on through the next decades the relationship with the West was to leave its stamp on the artistic production of a whole generation of Chinese artists : they skilfully incorporated into their works the techniques, motifs and colours borrowed from western styles and gave them their own, new, interpretation.

Following his passion for Asian Arts, Yvan Roubin, the young founder of the gallery, is determined to show another aspect of twentieth-century China : a land which is no longer one of rickshaws and opium dens but, though nostalgia is obvious, foreshadows China as we know it today.
